U.S. Corn Harvest Catching Up to Soybeans

The pace of the corn harvest picked up for the week ending Oct. 17, with 52% done in 18 selected States compared to a five-year average of 41%.

According to today's U.S. Department of Agriculture's Crop Progress Report, however, 60% of soybeans were already harvested compared to the five year average of 55%.

The planting of winter wheat, meanwhile, was a bit behind the five-year average of 71%.

A total of 70% of the crop had been planted.
