Legacy Seeds Acquired by Tillerman Seeds
USAgNet - 08/13/2018

Legacy Seeds, Inc. is now officially under new ownership. The Scandinavia, Wisconsin-based producer of alfalfa, corn, wheat and soybean seeds has been purchased by Tillerman Seeds LLC, which is a Michigan holding company established last year when the same owners acquired DF Seeds, LLC. The transaction allows Legacy Seeds to buy out the ownership stake of retired founder Steve Jensen and minority partner, Tyler Lee.

As part of the purchase agreement, Legacy Seeds will maintain its operations in Wisconsin and Idaho. CEO Bruce Ceranske will also remain as an owner and executive leader of Legacy Seeds.

Tillerman plans to operate the acquired companies as standalone entities with shared back-office services including accounting, human resources and purchasing.

With both DF Seeds and Legacy Seeds under its portfolio, the joint venture will have nearly $40 million in annual revenues and 42 employees, supplying more than 800 farms from seed operations in Michigan, Wisconsin and Idaho.
