State Issues Consumer Alert for Undeclared Milk in Candy

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball alerted consumers that the "Meiqili Durian Candy" product distributed by Fine Land Corporation, 376 Vernon Avenue, Brooklyn, was found to contain milk, which is not declared on the product label.
People who have an allergy to milk may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product. No illnesses have been reported to date to this Department in connection with this product.
The "Meiqili Durian Candy" is packaged in a 12 oz. (340 g) plastic bag with a clear window. The product does not have a use-by code but it is labeled as a product of China and has a UPC code of 4-897055-795465-0. The candy was distributed to retail
stores in New York and New Jersey.
Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by staff at the New York State Food Laboratory revealed the presence of undeclared milk allergens. Milk was not identified
as an ingredient on the product's packaging, as sampled.
Consumers who have purchased "Meiqili Durian Candy" should discard the product or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Questions may be directed to Mandy Chen with Fine Land Corporation at (917) 476-2804.
