NYCSGA Appoints Norton Public Policy Director
New York Ag Connection - 12/12/2017

The New York Corn & Soybean Growers Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Dean Norton as their Director of Public Policy. Dean brings with him a wealth of experience in the public policy arena having served as President of the New York Farm Bureau for eight years as well as numerous other capacities in the agricultural advocacy sector. Dean is currently a member of Norton Farms, a 900 cow and 1,000 acre dairy farm in Western New York and a Senior Agricultural Consultant at Freed Maxick CPAs, P.C.

"We are thrilled to begin working with Dean," said Colleen Klein, NYCSGA Executive Director. "His experience, respected connections and the valuable relationships he's fostered throughout the years will help position our growing organization at the forefront of agricultural policy both in New York State and on a national level."

Norton will coordinate legislative activities with both of the Association's national affiliates (the American Soybean Association and the National Corn Growers Association) as well as direct its statewide efforts in Albany. His position is funded through the membership of the NYCSGA.

"Farmers have a powerful voice and a story that needs to be told. We know they can't always get off the farm and make that trip to Albany or Washington which is what makes membership in the NYCSGA so important. It allows us to fully utilize the expertise Dean brings to the table to effectively deliver the farmer's message. And that's exactly what we're here to do" says Klein.
