Kansas to Perform at Great New York State Fair
New York Ag Connection - 05/24/2017

Legendary rock group Kansas, whose "Carry On Wayward Son" is a classic rock staple, will perform at 8 p.m. Aug. 28 on the Chevy Court stage at the Great New York State Fair, Acting Director Troy Waffner announced.

With a legendary career spanning more than four decades, Kansas has firmly established itself as one of America's iconic classic rock bands. This "garage band" from Topeka released their debut album in 1974 and has gone on to sell more than 30 million albums worldwide.

Kansas' 15 studio albums and five live albums produced eight gold albums, three sextuple-platinum albums ("Leftoverture," "Point of Know Return" and "Best of Kansas"), one platinum live album ("Two for the Show"), and two one million-selling gold singles, "Carry On Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind." "Wayward Son" continues to be one of the top five most played songs on classic rock radio, and "Dust In the Wind" has been played on the radio more than three million times. In 2016, the band released "The Prelude Implicit," its 15th studio album and first in 16 years.

"Progressive rock fans are in for a treat. Not only are these songs that people know by heart, but the musicianship of Kansas is outstanding. They've been great every time they've been here and I know they'll be great again. Don't miss this show," said Waffner.

This will be Kansas' fourth appearance at the Fair and the first since 2010.

The band plays on the first of two Senior Days, in which all seniors receive free admission. There is also a special promotion on the Wade Shows Midway, called Midway Monday, which offers a wristband good for 10 rides for $10.
