Some NYS Areas Wet, Others Showing Slight Drought

New York averaged 4.5 days suitable for field work, according to the USDA's National Ag Statistics Service.

Temperatures ranged from 0 degrees to 8 degrees above normal. Weekly precipitation ranged from 0.01 to 4.50 inches. Warm temperatures continued for the majority of the state this past week.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, New York has experienced D0 Abnormally Dry to D1 Moderate Drought conditions in the northernmost counties as well as some western counties and Suffolk County, Long Island.

The central to southern counties have had normal conditions for the past two weeks.

Some counties experienced continual rains, which prevented much progress on hay or field work. Overall, the warm, humid temperatures helped crops progress.
